Murnau Garden 1910: A Vibrant Prelude to Abstraction
Wassily Kandinsky's Murnau Garden 1910 captures a pivotal moment in art history, where the artist's fascination with color and form began to dissolve the boundaries of representational art. Painted during his time in the Bavarian town of Murnau, this work exemplifies his transition from expressionism to abstraction, influenced by the spiritual and theosophical ideas that would later define his theoretical writings. The garden scene, with its bold, non-naturalistic hues and dynamic brushwork, invites viewers into a world where emotion and color reign supreme.
