About the Artwork
Transverse Line exemplifies Kandinsky's belief that art should transcend the material world to express spiritual truths. Through intersecting lines, circles, and vivid hues, he creates a composition that balances tension and harmony. The painting reflects his fascination with synesthesia and the emotional power of color a theme central to his theoretical writings. This period marked a shift towards geometric precision, influenced by his Bauhaus colleagues, yet retaining the intuitive lyricism that defines his oeuvre.
