Landscape with Factory Chimney 1910: A Pivotal Work by Wassily Kandinsky
Experience the genesis of abstraction with Wassily Kandinsky's "Landscape with Factory Chimney" (1910), a masterpiece that captures the artist's transformative period. This fine art print invites you to explore the intersection of industrial modernity and Kandinsky's evolving visual language, where representational forms begin to dissolve into expressive color and dynamic composition.
In 1910, Kandinsky was on the cusp of a radical departure from conventional representation. This landscape, depicting a factory chimney amid a vibrant scene, exemplifies his fascination with the spiritual and emotional power of color. The chimney, a symbol of industrialization, is rendered with the same expressive brushwork that would soon lead Kandinsky to pure abstraction. The painting's bold hues and rhythmic lines prefigure the groundbreaking theories he would later articulate in Concerning the Spiritual in Art.
