IMPROVISATION 6 AFRICAN 1909 Framed Poster by Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky’s Improvisation 6 (African) from 1909 is a pivotal work that reveals the artist’s bold transition toward abstraction. This museum-quality framed poster captures the vibrant energy and rhythmic composition that defined his early expressionist period. With its dynamic interplay of color and form, this piece embodies Kandinsky’s belief that art should evoke spiritual and emotional responses, much like music. Displaying this fine art print in your space invites a dialogue with one of the 20th century’s most influential artists.

Art Historical Context

Created during his years in Munich, Improvisation 6 reflects Kandinsky’s fascination with non-Western art, particularly African sculpture and motifs, which he saw as pure and expressive. The painting’s title suggests a spontaneous composition, yet it is carefully structured with bold outlines and saturated hues. This work predates his fully abstract Compositions, offering a rare glimpse into his evolving visual language. As a reproduction, this poster preserves the intensity of the original oil on canvas, allowing you to appreciate Kandinsky’s genius up close.

Museum-Quality Craftsmanship

Each framed poster is produced using archival-grade materials and meticulous attention to detail. The matte, uncoated paper (250 gsm, 0.29 mm thick) provides a natural, off-white surface that enhances the artwork’s colors without glare. The sturdy pine wood frame, available in white, wood, dark wood, or black, is 20-25mm thick and 10-14mm wide, offering a sleek yet durable presentation. Shatterproof plexiglass protects the print, ensuring it remains pristine for years. The poster arrives ready to hang with a included hanging kit, so you can instantly elevate your home or office with this masterpiece.
